Expectation

The sky is for everyone and so is the Rainbow

At Aarav’s house:

How was your trip, Aarav? Rohit and Roy asked in unison.

Ayaan bit me and pushed me in the bus, he answered back angrily.

Why, what happened, Aarav?

I kissed him and touched him. He didn’t like it. All started teasing us and in anger, he pushed and bit me in my right hand. See here, all his teeth prints.

Did you get his consent before doing that, Roy asked looking at his pinkish face.

No.

You should have asked him my little champ, Roy exclaimed.

Yes, I should have. I will ask him sorry tomorrow. Sorry, appa for my bad behavior.

There is no good or bad behavior, my dear; you can learn only when you make mistakes. I can see it!

At School Entrance the next day

Ayaan, don’t run. Wait.

Amma, I must ask sorry to Aarav. Let me go!

Rumi smiled.

Aarav waited near their favorite sliding board painted in rainbow colors.

I am sorry, Aarav and Ayan said in unison, and the next minute they walked hand in hand forgetting about the incident and bitemark!

Rumi and Rohit witnessed it standing near the bougainvillea blossoms.

Aren’t you Ayaan’s mother, Rohit uttered.

Yes and you?

Aarav is my nephew.

Nice to know you, Rumi replied.

I am glad they patched up, he said.

Yeah!

So what you do, Rohit asked excitedly?

I am an interior designer and you.

I am a hairstylist at Toni and Guy, he said proudly moving his hair stylishly.

Beautiful!

And your husband, Rohit asked later biting his tongue.  He passed away when Ayaan was 2 months old.

I am sorry for your loss.

It’s okay.

My brother's was a love marriage but lately, he got sexually attracted to a man as well. Hence they both got separated. Now we both are looking after Aarav.

Rumi listened keenly.

Did he try to explain her?

Yes, he did but she isn’t able to accept his sexuality.

I understand it. It takes time, Rohit!

Yes. I sometimes wish we remained young like how Aarav and Ayaan is now.

It’s our mindset, Rohit.  We all have a child inside us. It’s just we don’t embrace it now. Children remain themselves, always. They don’t have expectations nor scared. They are curious and open-minded. They communicate and accept one other as to how they are!

I second that.

Nice to meet you Rohit, keep in touch.

Sure, he smiled looking at her without taking his eyes.

You’re a warm soul Rohit, she uttered before getting into her car.

You too!

At Ayaan’s house!

Aarav’s uncle seems to be cute!

Is it so, her mother asked naughtily?

At Aarav’s house!

What man, you look happy and content!

I think I met my love of life!

What is her name?

Does that even matter?

Expectations hurt!

Be yourself, everybody else is taken.

 THE LIFE OF POT :

The pot maker selected the particular clay and mixed it in a water and made pot in it. The clay was so happy that it get a new shape.

On Pongal season, he kept all the pots for sale. A little girl came with her dad and bought that pot. It was very happy it was moving to the new place. The lady in the house designed the pot with paints. On Pongal ,the pot was kept in a burner, it can't tolerate that heat ,so it transfers the heat to the milk which was poured in it and the milk over flowed. The pot thought that for  sure I'll be thrown out by them as I flowed the milk out .but the people surrounded the pot and shouted happily as pongalo Pongal. It was shocked what's happening here instead of throwing me out they are getting happy. The pot was happy too. They made sweet in that. It expected this will be its permanent work and it loved that work. The day passed happily.

The next day the lady poured water in it and kept it in a burner, and made rice ,the pot was shocked, why she is not making sweet in me and it gets a little disappointment but liked the new work.

Summer arrived, the lady changed the place of the pot and poured buttermilk in it. Again it gets confused what's happening here and keep on questioning itself why it's happening like this. But it did its work perfectly by cooling the buttermilk. And the days goes on,

one day the lady poured water in it and kept it closed. It was totally confused why the lady is changing its work, but the pot does its work by making water cool by giving its particles.

One day ,the pot get little crack ,it can't hold the water into it and get leaked. So the lady kept the pot out. The pot can't accept this ,and cried but it doesn't know whom to ask all these questions and felt very bad for itself.

On bhogi the lady lifted the pot ,it thought that it will be back to its work. But the lady threw it away, and it broken into pieces. It cried a lot because this is not what it expected .

later it realized ,in my life nothing goes wrong ,the things not met my expectations. things are as they are ,I suffered because I imagined different.

      'HOPE

             BUT NEVER EXPECT'

When you stop expecting ,you are free to enjoy what they are instead of what you think they should be.

EXPECTATIONS

Is expectation good or bad??

How happy would you feel, when your expectations ends in a positive way?!

But...

What if it is paves way for negativity??

Expect less build more is what Zara and Aysha teaches us!!

Zara and Aysha were good friends...

It was their college library when they met each other for the first time.

They seemed to be like-minded people where most of things they wanted to do were similar.

This was their second degree so they were well matured and able to cope up with the circumstances where life had given them enough of experiences....

They were a part of two different groups but even then no difference of opinion had arised between them.

Some even wondered how come they are much connected even though they belonged to different groups !!!

Once Aysha's friend broke her curiosity and asked her out....

"Aysha this really haunts me.

Most of the time you spend with me but you seemed to be more connected with Zara than with me! How is this bond possible?"

"Simple dear, you expect to spend more time with you but we just move with the flow of life and expect less....."

Then added

"Than expecting things to be this way we build our relationship with understanding"

Most of the time, Life leaves us empty as accepting the reality becomes hard when expected things is unfulfilled...

But the question that pops up!!

How can you live without expectations? Is that not basic quality of human?

Yes it is!!

Expect less, build more with understanding

Comment: Try to understand more than expectations!

 DAY AND NIGHT

PEOPLE TEND TO EXPECT MORE IN THEIR LIFE, SOME EXPECTATIONS BECOMES REALITY BUT OTHERS BECOME DREAMS ONLY.WE CAN TRY TO FULFILL OUR EXPECTATIONS BUT NEVER FEEL RECKLESS IF ITS NOT HAPPENING.

TARA AND MEERA WERE TWINS BORN WITH A VERY DIFFERENT DISORDER.THEIR PARENTS LOVED THEM BOTH EQUALLY.BUT TARA WAS LITTLE SAD.TARA HOWEVER DIDNT SHOW ANY GRUDGES TOWARDS HER SISTER MEERA.MEERA ON THE OTHER HAND ALWAYS MOCKED TARA.THE DISABILITY OF THE TWINS WAS THAT EITHER OF THE TWIN CAN ONLY SEE IN THE DAYLIGHT AND OTHER ONE CAN ONLY SES IN THE NIGHT.WHEN MEERA COULD ENJOY THE COLOURFUL WORLD IN THE DAYLIGHT,TARA LIFE WAS FILLED WITH DARKNESS.MEERA ALWAYS TEASES TARA SAYING THAT SHE WILL BE IN DARKNESS FOREVER.TARA ONLY EXPECTED TO SEE THE BEAUTY OF WORLD IN DAYLIGHT AND PRAYED FOR THE SAME.ONE DAY IT WAS DIWALI TIME AND AS USUAL MEERA WAS ENJOYING ALL THE CRACKERS AND FLOWER DECORATIONS WHILE TARA MIND WAS FILLED WITH THOUGHTS.IT BECAME DAWN AND TARA WAS FINALLY ABLE TO SEE.MEERA DIDNT KNOW THAT REAL BEAUTY OF DIWALI IS AT NIGHT.TARA SAW THE BEAUTY OF LIGHT.THE DIYAS AND FIREWORKS.HER EXPECTATIONS BECOME REALITY AND SHE FELT HAPPY.

MORAL: WHEN WE WORK HARD OUR EXPECTATIONS CAN BECOME REALITY.DONT THINK ABOUT THE DARKNESS THERE ALWAYS LIGHT AHEAD.

 ANNIHILATION

Long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.. there was a planet called Oculus. The Oculans were just like Humans but their life span was 5000yrs. Few of their kind were able to teleport through space-time, but they became extinct long ago.

In year 8100 they found a message written by their ancestors that their world was about to end on the 21st day of 8120. The message stated that, “Collision will bring annihilation".

This was not the first doomsday their race ever witnessed. Their home planet was Saturn. The researchers found out that a comet would hit them in few days. Some of them escaped from Saturn in two light speed spacecrafts, travelled 2000 light years(LYs) and reached Oculus.

It was year 8108, Nicholas, a scientist worked on space research, they were spectating on the cosmos under a radius of 5 LYs. If the prophecy was true the meteor must had arrived before 8109. But they didn’t found any celestial body marching towards them. Their planet was fully armed to face the apocalypse, they were only expecting a meteor to show up.

It was 8110 but still no signs of such body in their radius of search. But instead they found a binary system about a light year away from them. Both the planet's orbits were about to merge, after size analysis they found that their collision would lead to 'Supernova', destroying everything under the radius of 30LYs, which was totally unexpected.

Light speed spacecraft was their only option. By travelling at light speed they would be ahead of Supernova but they had only one light speed spacecraft left, with a capacity of 100. They couldnt build more because the formula was lost along with the fallen at Saturn. Nicholas' brother Alexie was sent on a mission to extract it in year 8000. But they lost communication with him in 8070. The only information they got from Alexie was that Saturn got rings after the comet collision. Their population was around 2 lakh. So they started testing for best genes which would help to propagate their race. Luckily Nicholas' wife and his kids were also chosen but he wasn’t. Those chosen ones were sent on a course to Saturn, to Nicholas' brother.

On 21st of 8110, they saw the Supernova. It was bright, colorful and shining in the sky. Who would have expected that such a beautiful thing would bring apocalypse.

For 10yrs Nicholas was living with the memories of his family and waiting for the Supernova to reach him. On 21st of 8120 it came, close to the Oculus. He saw everything turning into dust till it reached him.

Moral: Life doesn’t go by our expectations, we must be prepared to face the worst.

 THE ILLUSORY LIFE

In a grand function of the International Club at Koduvoi, Durairaj was the chief guest. He hailed from there and  now settled abroad in Canada. He was in the best of his formal attire like a foreigner and spoke English eloquently. Many congratulated him on his astronomical success in his career.

When he announced  Rupees five lakhs  as a donation for the construction of a college building there, the local people praised him for his philanthropy and  expected him to be a business magnet in Canada. They thought that he would talk about his personal life, but he did not disclose anything about it.

When he was flying back to Canada, he recollected himself his past events:

About twenty years ago he was a very successful businessman in his town and about twenty members were working in his concern. His son went to America for higher studies and then shifted to Canada after his marriage. He invited his parents to settle with him there. But Durairaj rejected it till the demise of his wife a decade ago. Again his son forced him to shift to Canada and he could not resist it anymore, as he was alone at his native.

After reaching Canada Durairaj spent a few months leisurely. Then he found it difficult to keep himself idle. Moreover he expected that his son would be earning enormously, but his remuneration was just more than sufficient to run the family. So Durairaj tried his own business in vain. Then he joined as a gardener in a rich man's house for which he was paid hugely in terms of the Indian currency. He earned in dollars and spent in rupees. Now he could donate from his savings.

Had he disclosed his nature of work, it would have belied the expectations of his people and his image.

Moral: Expectations tend to be illusory in our life and we should learn to live in reality.

-R. Arunachalam
